Title: Safety Officer

Minimum Requirements:

  • SACPCMP Registered as CHSO.

  • Minimum 5 years’ building / construction experience.

  • SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, HIRA, incident investigation, first aid, firefighting and fall protection planner.

  • Must have a valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport.

  • Strong admin skills, computer literate in Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams and PowerPoint.

  • Must be able to work autonomously, be self-driven, and have attention to detail.

Location: Cape Town

Commencement Date: As soon as possible.

Job Description

Summary:

Ruwacon requires the services of a Cape Town-based Health & Safety Officer responsible for safety management on building sites.

RuwaconDuties & Responsibilities:

  • Implement Ruwacon Health and Safety Management System (OHSAS18001).

  • Subcontractor Management.

  • Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and compliance audits.

  • Develop, review, and implement project-specific safety documentation and plans.

  • Coordinate with contractors, site teams, and project professionals on safety requirements.

  • Investigate incidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Ensure adherence to the OHS Act, relevant regulations, and applicable labour and environmental legislation.

  • Provide training, mentoring, and safety guidance to site personnel.

  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and administrative documentation.
