The purpose of the project was to re-space and renovate the existing building to extend the operational life of the building, as well as to provide a modern working environment which is compliant with the Umalusi corporate image. The new facility also comprises a new ablution facility and reception which is added to the existing building. This extension includes new offices, board rooms, meeting rooms and toilets. The project also comprised the addition of parking facilities. The design had to be flexible enough to accommodate future growth if required.
The design solution for this project was based on creating a central atrium which connects all the different areas within the building with each other. This will create a sense of unity between different departments which will help create cohesion within its staff members too. To achieve this we have introduced colour palettes throughout the office space that reflects Umalusi's brand identity and ethos.
