The Refurbishment of Existing Buildings Located at the ATNS Operational Complex in OR Tambo International Airport
Ruwacon was appointed by ATNS for the Refurbishment of 3 Buildings on OR Tambo Airport:
ATA Building – Aviation Training Academy
FAOR Tower Building – Control Tower & Operational Complex
SSS Building – Backup for the FAOR Building
There is also external parking upgrades (Carports & Paving).
The project started on the 17 th of May 2019. The project duration is 12 months with original completion date of 18 May 2020.
This project was set up with majority of the trades as Provisional Sum Allowances. The Nominated/Selected contractors were not appointed from the onset and led to a huge initial delay. Furthermore the buildings are “Live” with occupants using the facilities. This causes additional challenges as we are only allowed access to a portion of the building at a time.
