socio-economic development

Socio-economic development is an integral part of Ruwacon’s business strategy and is driven at the highest level by our MD, Gavin Davids.  It is seen as a business imperative that supports our business objectives.

Ruwacon Schools Project
True to Ruwacon’s belief, we continue restoring buildings and communities.
The company embarked on a project to upgrade the facilities of two local schools in Bloemfontein, Tswellang Special School and Ihobe Primary School.  Tswellang is a school for learners with severe physical disabilities coming from previously disadvantaged communities across the Free State.  The school was in desperate need for additional classroom space for the 40 disabled learners.  Two new classrooms were built and the facilities were upgraded and restored as needed.

Cheetah Kidz
Ruwacon also supports Cheetah Kidz.  This initiative offers children from previously disadvantaged communities in Bloemfontein the opportunity to take part in programs where they are taught the basic rugby skills in an effort to identify and develop talent amongst these children.

Jean Webber residences
Jean Webber Home in Bloemfontein is a facility for disabled and marginalized people such as those affected by HIV / AIDS.  There are currently 42 residents living in this facility.  Some of these residents are completely dependant on the care and assistance of the staff at Jean Webber Home as many of them do not have the favourable support of their families.  The home is therefore under severe financial strain in an effort to care in the extensive needs of these residents.  Ruwacon donated generously to this cause in an effort to assist the Jean Webber management to continue with their selfless task of providing in the every need of these residents.
